PostSubject: Re: reproductive system Tue Mar 17, 2009 5:56 pm

JiGaR: i wanna know the answers Very Happy so, i am attemting it....hope ou correct it...
Answ:

Q1

i WBC???
ii interstitial cells and neurons.

Q2....???lysosomes??

Q3 yes...to catch the ova produced by the ovary and then move it to the oviduct.

Q4 very tricky one...

i) linkage is the attraction btw the two homologous chromosomes ???
ii) Point mutation....whats the diff btw this and just mutation?

iii) -
iv) it is the condtition in which the chromosome contains dissimal pair of alleles, out of which one is dominant.

Q 5

Variation is the small differences btw the individuals. mutation is the sudden change in one or more genes in the progeny, which has not occured in the parents or even grandparents.

Gametic and zygotic...its guess:

gametic-occurs in the reproductive organs, to produce sex cells...eg. in testes n ovary...to produce sperm n ovum...occurs b4 fertilization.

zygotic-occurs after fertilization of the 2 gametes...occurs in the zygote formed after their fusion to produce sex cells in the zygote....???

Q6 thin-to reduce the area for transportation of water n minerals. n food, redces the distance btw the cells.....large-to increase the surface area, to increase the no. of chloroplasts, thus more sunlight can be absorbed...

in general, leaves are thin n large to faciliate greater rate of photosyn.

Q7 androgen?

Q8 1. false=lysosome
2. true

Q9 ADH coz this is secreted by posterior pitut. other by anterior...adh is normal hormone..but others are tropical hormones.

Q10

1-cerebellum
2-hill reaction

btw..what is sebum?

hope all are correct!! Smile

PostSubject: Re: reproductive system Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:34 pm

ill tell u wer u lost marks. accurately itz 16.5/20
but 17 can be accounted for ur attempt!~~
Q.1,Q.2,Q.3 : Scored full
Q.4 lost 3 marks:
i)Linkage: Tendency of certain genes, which are found too close to each
other to remain together, even at the time of inheritence also is called Linkage
and such genes are called Linked Genes.
ii)Point Mutation: A mutation that can be mapped to one specific site within a
locus (Im sure itz not dat important but u shud know the types of mutation)
iii)Quantasome:
Smallest structural unit of photosynthesis, a particulate
component of the thylakoid membrane containing chlorophyll and cytochromes

iv)is rite
Q.5 is rite
Q.6 is rite but here u lost ur 0.5 mark beacuse u didnt talk about cuticle in thickness...less cutice more transpiration..in case of normal plants (non xerophytic)
Q.7, Q.8, Q.9, Q.10 are rite...

Go on page 2 for sebum nd mutations

congrats....ur gonna get a good score tomorrow!

MUTATION:

First of all, Mutations can be classified as either GENE MUTATIONS or CHROMOSOME MUTATIONS according to the size of alteration.

Gene mutations can be divided as:

1-) Lethal Mutations

2-)Conditional Mutations

3-)Biochemical Mutations

4-)Resistance Mutations

When we look at the molecular basis of mutation,

Spontaneous Point Mutation, Point (single-site) mutations in DNA can occur through two possible way,

1-) The substitution of one base pair for another

a-)Silent Mutation

b-)Missense mutation

c-)Non sense mutation

2-)The addition or deletion of a nucleotide pair

PostSubject: Re: reproductive system Tue Mar 17, 2009 7:45 pm

can you rectify these ans for me?

1a iii)Chiasmata are indicators of - meiosis?

e ii)Ovary->Urethra->Vas Deferens->Egg

Ans: is it sperms>testes>vas deferens>urethra
or testes>sperms>vas deferens>urethra?
cause logically within the testes, formation of sperms take place
so which one is it?

thanks in advance
